Meet Caisey, Business Apprentice at CMP Products

We caught up with Caisey who joined British Engines Group Company, CMP Products as a Business Apprentice in 2023. Learn more about Caisey’s role, including a typical ‘day-in-the-life’ and her future aspirations.

When did you join CMP?

I joined CMP in October 2023 as a Business Apprentice. My apprenticeship training takes places with TDR Training who are the training provider appointed by the British Engines Group.

What does your role involve?

I work in the quotations department, the plan being at the end of my training I will remain in this team as a Quotations Coordinator.

My role involves triaging quotations, identifying duplicate enquiries and linking them to customers bidding for the same jobs to ensure CMP quote the preferred customer. I also establish who we would like to win the opportunity and link them to a business opportunity in our ERP software.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I go through my enquiries making sure all of the information is correct to offer quotations, focusing on making sure the customers are satisfied and happy, whilst making sure the quotes I provide are in the company’s best interest.

We have targets to meet on quotation turnarounds and we proactively chase the customers, Business Development Managers and Regional Managers where required to ensure the quote is offered swiftly.

Why did you want this role?

Earlier this year, I completed work experience at CMP and was keen to understand the business and commercial department further. After seeing all sites and how the factory operates, I understood that the company was successful and looked to be around for the long-term due to the investment that was happening in the factory and new product development.

I knew I’d enjoy this role as it’s about providing a service to the customers which I had previously done and loved. I get satisfaction knowing that customers have had a good service with CMP.

"This role has fulfilled my expectations, the commercial office is a supportive and cheerful environment. It was very important to me that I continue to develop the customer service experience I had previously gained. This is something I am able to do in this role"

Has the role fulfilled your expectations?

This role has fulfilled my expectations, the commercial office is a supportive and cheerful environment. It was very important to me that I continue to develop the customer service experience I had previously gained. This is something I am able to do in this role as we are a global company. I liked that I would be working with a broad mix of backgrounds and cultures too.

What would you like to learn as an apprentice?

My main goals are to learn CMP’s culture and be part of the company’s successful journey. I would like to learn how to be the best I can be in customer service, to be competent and understand our products technically to offer good solutions for our customers.

I’d also like to strengthen my commercial awareness and build long term customer and colleague relationships. Communication is key, I feel I am very good at doing this, so I hope to continue to grow in this area.

How would your colleagues describe you?

Eager to learn, conscientious, methodical, sociable, team player.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

In my spare time I spend time with friends and family, particularly family gatherings. I enjoy dining out with friends and family and I have a passion for cooking, exploring new places, seeing different cultures and traditions.

I also like to explore forests and have a love of waterfalls. I love walking my dog as he loves exploring as much as I do! I have a very good social network, this is important to me as I feel I am a very supportive friend who can be relied upon. I like to learn and gain new experiences to help me to continue to grow.

Thanks for speaking to us Caisey! We wish you the best of luck with the rest of your apprenticeship. Are you interested in doing a business apprenticeship? Find out more about the business apprenticeship opportunities we have at the British Engines Group.
