A group of A Level students from across the region visited BEL Valves as part of the Northumbria University Summer School Initiative. The day focused on encouraging young women to choose engineering as a career path.
The students were introduced to employees at BEL Valves who spoke about job opportunities within British Engines including the British Engines apprenticeship and graduate schemes. They also had a chance to speak to females from across the business about their experience in the industry.
Emma Garrick from the Think Physics programme at Northumbria University said: “The girls really enjoyed the experience and found the BEL Valves factory really interesting, and very calm compared to their experiences at other factories across the North East earlier in the week.”
