Meet Ryan: Customer Project Lead at Stadium Export Services

Ryan, who works as Customer Project Lead, joined British Engines Group company, Stadium Export Services in 2018. We caught up with him to find out about his time with the business so far and what keeps him so motivated.

Tell us about your job role?

As Customer Project Lead, I take care of customers and work with the team on the shop floor to build a positive working culture.

How long have you worked at the business?

I’ve worked at Stadium for five years. I started as an agency worker, then after six months I got taken on permanently as an Operative. A few years later I was promoted to my current position of Customer Project Lead.

I’ve done a lot of courses during my time with the business to help me progress. I’ve recently completed a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety and I’m working towards a NEBOSH HSE Award in Managing Risks and Risk Assessment at Work.

The people I work with are great and I like the variety of projects I get to work on. We’ve got a good group of people here and we’re well taken care of as a team.

What’s the most interesting project you’ve worked on?

A few years ago, we worked with global engineering company, WHP, to deliver COVID vaccines to the Netherlands. It’s great to see our projects in the news, it makes you feel like you’re making a difference in the world!

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The people I work with are great and I like the variety of projects I get to work on. We’ve got a good group of people here and we’re well taken care of as a team.

What gets you up in the morning?

The gym! I try to have a positive attitude to life and find going to the gym helps with my mental health. I do CrossFit classes which are quite demanding, but I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life, so it’s definitely paid off!

Who inspires you?

My dad. He owns his own business, The Kitchen Works, which he built up from nothing. It gives me something to aspire towards and it’s a great accomplishment. I actually worked there for ten years before coming to Stadium.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

I was once an extra in a TV series called Badger after being scouted in the streets of Blaydon. The two main characters came over and asked me a question and I had to stare at them with a sickening look before walking away. I couldn’t keep a straight face so as I turn away you can see I start to grin!

What are you passionate about?

Driving forward. I made the choice recently to try and lead a healthier lifestyle and develop a new outlook on life. Everything I’ve achieved in the last six months has massively improved my motivation and I seem to be accomplishing a lot more.

Have you got a favourite quote?

It’s not so much a quote but I have a morning routine where I get up and do three tasks, like making the bed or cleaning the kitchen, then I throw away something I don’t need. After that I post a positive quote on my Snapchat story and send a text to a family member or friend wishing them a good day. One of the quotes I shared recently was, ‘Dear me, give me three to six months and I’ll show you how I make you proud’.

Thanks so much for speaking to us Ryan and sharing your positivity! We wish you the best of luck going forward in your career at the British Engines Group.
