As Import-Export Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing frontline support to the CMP customer base and regional offices.

 

The aim of the role is to maximise customer satisfaction by ensuring customer orders are despatched in a timely, efficient, and compliant manner, supported by an efficient, proactive, and customer focused approach.

 

Key result areas include minimising overall shipping costs, ensuring effective communication between packing/despatch, overseas offices, and end customers, and providing key analysis and insight to support the ongoing development of the shipping department.

 

What you'll be doing

 

  • Preparation of all necessary export and import documentation on a daily basis
  • Work closely with worldwide distributors, agents, and overseas offices
  • Ensure all telephone and email requests are actioned to provide customers and freight forwarding agents with accurate information
  • Develop competence in the use of the business system (IFS), to provide quick and accurate information at the first point of enquiry
  • Ensure goods are shipped in a timely manner to meet customer delivery requirements and work with customers to consolidate orders to reduce freight costs
  • Work with production on shipping schedules to ensure customer needs are met
  • Monitor freight costs to ensure pricing remains competitive and obtaining competitive air, sea, and courier quotes for orders not shipped on an ex works basis
  • Maintain close liaison with freight forwarders, shippers, and the Chamber of Commerce to remain up to date with current rules and regulations relating to export activities
  • Keep up to date with current practice regarding documentary credits as they apply to CMP export business to ensure compliance
  • Ensure invoices are created and despatched ensuring all customer documentary requirements are fully met
  • Organise returns from customers when required
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure key processes are controlled and to support continuous improvement

 

Who we're looking for

 

To apply, you will be an experienced Import Export Coordinator, ideally with experience gained within an engineering or manufacturing environment, and able to demonstrate a proven track record in a similar role.

You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines. You will be highly organised, demonstrate strong time management skills, and show initiative in your approach to work.

A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and ERP systems is essential. The role is full time and permanent, working 35 hours per week. CMP offers a 9 day fortnight working arrangement, enabling employees to work compressed hours and take alternate Fridays off, supporting a healthy work–life balance
