As an IT Field Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality IT support, providing both on-site and remote support to all British Engines Group businesses. Your day will involve resolving complex IT issues, supporting specialized manufacturing equipment, overseeing network security, and contributing to major infrastructure projects. Whether you&©re mentoring colleagues, travelling between sites, or enhancing our cyber security, you&©ll be a trusted expert shaping our future technology landscape.

 


What you&©ll be doing

 


&· Deliver expert first and second line IT support, troubleshooting hardware, software, and infrastructure issues
&· Support networking, server, desktop, operational technology (OT) environments, and production-critical manufacturing devices
&· Implement and monitor cyber security measures, system logs, and endpoint protections
&· Lead and support IT infrastructure projects, including upgrades and migrations
&· Work collaboratively with in-house teams, stakeholders, and external partners
&· Conduct user training and promote cyber security best practices
&· Procure IT equipment and manage third-party vendor relationships
&· Regularly visit group company sites to provide on-site support as needed

 


Who we&©re looking for

 


We are looking for a highly skilled and customer-oriented IT professional who holds a relevant IT degree or has substantial experience in IT field service roles. You should have a solid history of supporting enterprise-level IT infrastructures within manufacturing, engineering, or similarly complex environments, and will be comfortable handling both operational support and the delivery of IT projects.

 


You will have strong technical abilities, particularly with Microsoft Windows operating systems (both client and server), Microsoft 365, Active Directory, as well as significant knowledge of networking$ûcovering switching, routing, VLANs, WiFi, DHCP, DNS, and TCP/IP. A sound understanding of cyber security measures and defences is essential, alongside practical experience with endpoint management, imaging, deployment tools, and security controls. Previous experience with Operational Technology (OT) is desirable, though not required.

 


Exceptional customer service skills and a strong sense of ownership are essential for this role. You should be able to manage competing priorities effectively and remain calm under pressure, demonstrating excellent documentation skills and great attention to detail. Experience working with third-party IT vendors and managing contractual relationships is highly valued. You will need to be a confident communicator, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels across the business.
A full UK driving licence is essential, as frequent travel between company sites will be required. Previous experience in manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environments would be highly desirable.
