We’re looking for a CNC Setter Operator with predominantly turning experience to join our team in Cramlington. You’ll set and operate CNC machines to produce components from a range of raw materials, including brass, stainless steel and aluminium, ensuring each component meets the requirements of its engineering drawing.

What you'll be doing

  • You’ll carry out setting and operating duties safely and within target times, following all relevant risk assessments and standard operating procedures. You’ll read and edit existing CNC programmes to support quality and output, monitor tooling for wear, adjust offsets and replace tools when needed.
  • You’ll use a range of measuring equipment to complete inspections in line with control plan instructions, identify and report non-conforming components, and accurately complete the system transactions related to your role. You’ll also carry out pre-shift and maintenance checks as required, while maintaining a high standard of housekeeping.

Who we're looking for

You’ll have experience setting and programming CNC machines using Fanuc or Mori Seiki control systems. You’ll be confident working to tight tolerances, interpreting technical drawings and using a range of measuring equipment.

You’ll be organised, self-motivated and able to communicate well, with enthusiasm for the role. Working safely is essential: you’ll help promote positive behaviours and lead by example in line with the company’s health, safety and environmental policies.

This is a full-time, permanent position, averaging 37.5 hours per week. At CMP, we understand that employees want a good work–life balance, so the shift pattern is designed to support this: you’ll work 10 12-hour shifts across a 21-day cycle, with 11 days off in the rotation.

We recognise hard work and offer competitive pay alongside company-funded quarterly food vans and summer and winter social events. Our benefits also include a holiday buy and sell scheme, enhanced pension, a wellbeing app and Employee Assistance Programme, plus good training and development opportunities. A number of our managers have developed and progressed within CMP, reflecting the opportunities available to grow your career here.
