British Engines is a leading engineering group with a long heritage in the North East of England since 1922.

Employing approximately 1,200 people, our eight businesses design, manufacture, assemble, test and service leading products and components for a wide range of industries including the renewables, digital, defence, power, nuclear, aerospace, robotics, oil and gas, chemical, marine, construction and agriculture sectors.

As a Marketing and Communications Assistant, you will be the key marketing contact, delivering practical marketing and communications activity across the Rotary Power, part of the British Engines group of businesses. Working closely with the Head of Marketing, wider marketing colleagues and key stakeholders across Commercial, Sales and Engineering, the role will coordinate campaigns, content, digital channels, marketing materials, internal communications, events and supplier activity.

 

What you'll be doing

 

  • Deliver agreed marketing campaigns and activity in line with business priorities.
  • Act as the main marketing contact for the business unit, responding to requests and supporting sales activity.
  • Create and adapt content for websites, social media, company news, case studies and customer communications.
  • Develop presentations, brochures, marketing literature and other sales-support materials.
  • Manage website content using WordPress and plan, schedule and publish social media activity.
  • Coordinate PR stories, case studies, news items and internal communications.
  • Support internal events, trade shows and customer-facing activity.
  • Use Adobe design software and coordinate print production where required.
  • Maintain organised marketing files and share relevant information with colleagues.

 

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

 

  • Experience in marketing, communications, administration or a related area, with good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Digital Marketing: Interest in or introductory experience of website content, SEO, social media or other digital marketing activity.
  • Design and Creative Tools: Basic working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop or similar design software is desirable.
  • Organisation and Planning: Well organised, accurate and able to manage tasks and priorities with support.
  • Collaboration and Insight: Able to work positively with colleagues and use feedback to improve work.

 

Who we're looking for

 

This role is ideal for a motivated individual looking to develop their marketing and communications expertise in a supportive environment. You will bring strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage varied priorities. Experience in marketing, communications, administration or digital marketing is desirable, including WordPress, SEO and social media. Adobe experience, a relevant qualification or equivalent experience, and a full driving licence with access to a car would also be advantageous.
