As a Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for driving procurement excellence, managing critical supplier relationships, and supporting complex manufacturing projects. The successful candidate will play a vital part in cost reduction initiatives, supply chain optimisation, and ensuring the uninterrupted availability of essential materials and services.

What you'll be doing

 

  • Lead RFQ processes within IFS for BoC, Manufacturing and Raw Materials.
  • Convert quotations into accurate, cost-effective purchase orders.
  • Manage and monitor open purchase orders, updating IFS and stakeholders accordingly.
  • Lead negotiations to secure best value, quality and delivery.
  • Support cost reduction and supply chain optimisation initiatives.
  • Manage supplier performance, including non-conformance resolution and corrective action reviews.
  • Support change order management processes within IFS.
  • Assist Sales with budget pricing and delivery commitments during bid phases.
  • Identify and onboard new suppliers in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with British Engines and BEL Valves Health, Safety & Environmental policies.

       

      Who we're looking for

       

      An experienced purchasing professional who combines strong commercial awareness with technical understanding. Someone who is collaborative, adaptable and confident working cross-functionally in a dynamic engineering business.

      You will bring:

      • Minimum 3 years’ experience in purchasing or supply chain within a manufacturing/engineering environment.
      • Experience using ERP systems (IFS experience advantageous).
      • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
      • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
      • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability.
      • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
      • CIPS Level 3 qualification (or working towards).
